Worship Times and Locations

Here at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church we generally follow the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) in our worship and preaching.

You have two worship opportunities to choose from:

Contemporary Worship
Time: 8:30 am
Location: Christian Life Center (located at the corner of Main Avenue and Edison Street)
What to Expect: a one hour worship experience featuring our SonRise Praise Band leading us in contemporary praise and worship music, biblical preaching, breakfast, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Traditional Worship
Time:11:00 am
Location: Church Sanctuary (located at the corner of North Elk Avenue and Edison Street)
What to Expect: a one hour worship experience that features our beautiful pipe organ often accompanied by the piano, great hymns and creeds of the Christian faith, an anthem shared by our talented Chancel Choir, and biblical preaching.

We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month and other special Sundays during the Christian year.

In addition, we have seasonal worship services (see church calendar for specific times)
• Ash Wednesday
• Palm Sunday Community Service
• Holy Week - Noon Day Services
• Thanksgiving - Community Worship - Hosted by different churches
• Christmas Eve - Candle light service with Holy Communion
• National Day of Prayer

What is the Revised Common Lectionary?

The RCL is a three-year cycle of recommended weekly scripture lessons. It is used in varying degrees by a great number of mainline Protestant churches in Canada and the United States. The RCL is built around the seasons of the Church Year, and includes four lections for each Sunday.

There are generally four readings for each Sunday: 1) a reading from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), 2) a Psalm, 3) a reading from the Epistles, and 4) a Gospel reading.
